The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a home video game console developed and produced by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is the successor to the PlayStation 4 and was released on November 12, 2020. The PS5 features a number of new technologies and improvements over its predecessor, including:

A custom-designed CPU based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture and a custom-designed GPU based on the RDNA 2 microarchitecture, which provide significant performance improvements over the PS4.
A built-in solid-state drive (SSD) that greatly reduces loading times and improves overall system performance.
Support for ray tracing, which allows for more realistic lighting and reflections in games.
3D audio, which provides a more immersive gaming experience by simulating sound in 3D space.
Backwards compatibility with a majority of PS4 games, allowing players to continue playing their existing library of games on the new console.
A new DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which provide a more immersive gaming experience.

The PS5 also offers some new features such as the PlayStation Plus Collection, a selection of PS4 games that are available to download at no extra cost for PS Plus members. Also, the PS5 has a built-in HD camera that allows for video chat and recording of gameplay footage.
